About Lindy
I’m Linda or Lindy or Lindybear!! I’m 29 and for the last couple of years I’ve been having a late quarter life crisis. So I’m heading off around the world for a year of summer. It may have something to do with the 63 consecutive days of rain in Cork, Ireland last “summer”!!
Hitting Asia first – Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia. Then around mid July I’m flying to Oz for about 5 months. The journey home brings me through New Zealand (or Zealand as Steve calls it – does anyone know if there’s an old Zealand?) South America and one or two stops in the USA. Feel free to follow my travels and leave me some cheeky comments along the way.

New Zealand was named after a province in the Netherlands called Zeeland, which gets translated to Zealand in English. Originally, Australia was called Nieuw Holland and New Zealand was called Nieuw Zeeland, after the two major provinces in the Netherlands, by Dutch explorers. Nieuw Holland was eventually changed to Australia and the English version of Neiuw Zeeland is New Zealand, which is what we call it now.
So tell Steve he’s quite possibly already probably been to old Zeeland!

What can I say, I guess love may be blind but lingerie is rather popular!
Linda on 14 May 2008 at 10:01 am #
Where did the lingerie part come from?????

The word lingerie was not widely used until 1852. Its from the french word spelt the same way meaning, “things made of linen” or “laundry room, linen shop”. It was introduced to the english language as a euphemism for scandalous under-linen…

Wow, there’s a mini wikipedia developing here. Should have a fountain of knowledge by the end of the year travelling!

A wiki is a collection of web pages designed to enable anyone who accesses it to contribute or modify content. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. The collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the best known wikis. Wikis are used in businesses to provide affordable and effective intranets and for knowledge management.

Hey Linda!
Your cousin Dee here (on my baby’s “due date”) – no sign of baby yet! Seems like there’s no need to say have a ball on your travels!!!!!! Hope you’re not being remotely sensible!
Enjoy the beach.
